Stress Free Integrative Veterinary Medicine

At Shaker Square Animal Hospital, we believe in a holistic approach to caring for your four legged loved ones. This mean combining the best practices of traditional medicine with alternative modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, food therapy and laser therapy. This type of veterinary care focuses on the evaluation of the whole animal and on the prevention of disease and maintenance of health, not just on the treatment of disease and the suppression of symptoms. An integrative approach to veterinary medicine can improve the likelihood of resolving an underlying disease condition, prevent or minimize adverse drug effects, and improve the quality of life of your pets.

Traditional Western Medicine

Traditional Western Veterinary Medicine utilizes diagnostic tools such as blood work and digital imaging to help determine the cause of an illness. Once the cause is determined, powerful medicines are used to cure the illness or alleviate the symptoms. Western medicine is especially good acute conditions or very severe medical conditions such as infections with high fevers, congestive heart failure, or seizures because they will have an immediate impact on the patient’s condition

Laser Therapy

K-Laser Class IV therapeutic lasers deliver specific red and near-infrared wavelengths of laser light to induce a photochemical reaction and therapeutic effect. Physiological effects include increased circulation, reduced inflammation, pain reduction and enhanced tissue healing. Laser therapy has been used in Europe since the 1970s and was cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2005.
